Matthew 22:34-40 (August 21)
In today's Gospel Jesus said "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and the most important of the commandments. But after this there is another one very similar to it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole Law and the Prophets are founded on these two commandments."Those words are more commonly known as the 2 greatest commandments. In my opinion, this is the best way to explain to others how to be able to enter God's Kingdom. Although it does sound simpler than the 10 commandments, I think this is harder to do. Sometimes we can't help but turn away from God and think of nothing but hate for the people around us.
I thought before how strict God was for giving us such things to follow, but after a while I realised the reason He gave us these commandments were because He wants us to be with Him in heaven. Since we cannot enter heaven all broken and sinful, He showed us how to enter it, as if the commandments given to us were keys he gave each and every once of us to the doors of heaven.
